The Community Blue Print Network is an initiative launched by the Points of Light Foundation with the goal of assisting Veterans and their families through reintegration strategies like employment, volunteerism and education. To better connect our Veterans to these resources, SignupandServe.org was created with the intentions of matching Veterans to organizations that can help make the transition easier. Through volunteering, Veterans can learn unparalleled leadership skills, engage their communities and its members, and also gives civilians a chance to actively support their Veterans who have already given so much.
Here at Metro Volunteers, we are determined to help Veterans leverage volunteering into meaningful employment as well as paths to reconnecting to the community. Often times, our service members come home, continuing to look for ways to serve both their communities and country, and SignupandServe.org was created to connect these volunteers to service projects. Metro Volunteers’ role in the CCBN is to leverage volunteerism to meet the needs of service members, veterans, and their families. We are working towards the implementation of four days of service in 2013, the first being on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (January 21, 2013). For information about and to register for project days in Denver, visit MetroVolunteers.org.
How can You help? Community members, Veteran or not, can go to SignupandServe.org to create a volunteer profile and sign up for service projects in your area. If you’re an organization looking to add volunteers to an upcoming project, you can sign your organization up and create projects to help benefit the community.
