We are nearing the end of a year riddled with change, turmoil, hard work, and fatigue. Social and political unrest, a world wide pandemic, and unprecedented restrictions on travel and social distancing has this holiday season feeling a bit different than it has in the past. Regardless of all the new and daunting change we face, one thing remains the same: the holiday season is a season of giving!
During challenging times, a light shines on the places where need is the greatest. Food insecurity is at an all time high, essential workers are in desperately high demand, and resources and funding for nonprofits have been drastically impacted by emergency response. In these times of crisis, volunteers and individuals graciously giving their funds, time, and talents to those who need it the most are the driving force towards returning to a sense of normalcy in an abnormal world.
So you may be asking yourself, how can I give back this 2020 holiday season? Here’s just a few ways in the coming weeks!
GivingTuesday 2020: Dec. 1st, 2020
GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past seven years, it has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.
Whether it’s making someone smile, helping a neighbor or stranger out, showing up for an issue or people we care about, or giving some of what we have to those who need our help, every act of generosity counts and everyone has something to give.
