RSVP Meet the Managers!: Lynn Soukup

Spark the Change Colorado is adding a new Volunteer Program, the AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program), to seven counties across Colorado! The counties are: Alamosa, Huerfano, Los Animas, Montezuma, Park, Jefferson, and Broomfield.

Since 1971, RSVP, one of the largest volunteer efforts in the nation for people 55 and over, has matched older adults who are willing to help with local organizations on the front lines of meeting community needs. Food insecurity will be the focus area of service in these seven counties.

To spotlight this exciting new program, we wanted to introduce you to the Team that’s making it happen!

Meet Lynn Soukup

RSVP Montezuma County Manager

Lynn Soukup has been a teacher, a parenting coach, and a family advocate for most of her adult life. She previously worked at The Pin͂on Project, a family resource center in Cortez, where she was a trainer and facilitator for Family Development Credentials and Bridges Out of Poverty. Lynn has been a passionate advocate for food justice and helping people who are experiencing poverty and enjoys all aspects of that work, making her the perfect fit for our Montezuma County Manager position with RSVP!

In her free time, Lynn loves to get outside. During COVID-19 quarantine, Lynn was living in The Woodlands, TX, which, true to its name, is heavily wooded. She spent those lonely days learning about the unique ecosystem and exploring the natural landscape looking for bugs and snakes, turtles and frogs, and just accessing a new and different view of the world. She shares, “As much as I loved my critter friends, I am still a people-person, through and through!”

Lynn will put those people-person skills to use in her new position managing RSVP volunteers addressing food insecurity in Montezuma County! When asked what she’s most excited about, Lynn shares, “I love the idea of building relationships with lots of others who feel strongly about being the change we want to see in the world. I feel like connecting people to work they love and value in our community will be fun and rewarding for all of us involved!”

Welcome, Lynn, from all of us at the Spark Team! We are so excited to have your unique perspective, talent, and energy become a part of our growing team. We look forward to all the great work you will do supporting the community of Montezuma County!
